Sustainability is everyone’s
responsibility

Creative Force + sustainability

Creative Force helps recognise extraordinary human achievement and we believe it’s important for future generations to have the opportunity to do remarkable things. For this reason, sustainability is a high priority for us. We want to ensure a healthy and livable planet for many generations to come.

Climate change and loss of biodiversity is threatening life on earth and we believe organisations have a responsibility to minimise their environmental impact. We aim to run our business profitably, while minimising our environmental impact, delivering a valuable service for our clients, and providing fulfilling employment opportunities for talented people around the world.

Energy use

Our servers are hosted with Amazon Web Services (AWS) who have a long-term commitment to 100% renewable energy. Currently, AWS data centre energy needs come from 50% renewables. We wanted to do better, now. So since mid 2017, we have offset carbon dioxide from the other 50% of server energy coming from non-renewable sources, through Greenfleet. Greenfleet have planted 9 million native trees since 1997.

Waste and recycling

Creative Force has a policy of zero paper waste. All our documentation is electronic and we do not do any printing. We also help clients reduce paper waste by facilitating the entry, judging, and management of their programs through a fully online service, dispensing with the need to print and ship physical entries.

Remote workforce

We are a fully distributed and remote workforce with the majority of employees working from home. This generates significant environmental benefits through not having to commute to and from work each day. It reduces the demand for office space, which takes up land, consumes resources in construction and maintenance, and comes with significant heating and cooling costs. And we’re less likely to be sending single-use coffee cups to landfill! That’s not to say we don’t appreciate a good cup of coffee. We just want to make sure future humans get to enjoy coffee too 🙂

Offsetting travel

We make a small number of flights per year for business purposes. Our carbon footprint from flights for the 2020 financial year was 18 tonnes of CO2. Like our server energy use, we’ve offset that carbon dioxide through tree planting via Greenfleet.

Product environmental benefits

Creative Force offers environmentally friendly solutions for awards and grant management. We help program organisers reduce their carbon footprint and environmental impact by:

  • Eliminating the need for entrants/applicants to print and ship physical entries
  • Eliminating the need to reproduce and distribute physical entries/applications for judging/reviewing
  • Facilitating judging/reviewing remotely online— reducing or eliminating the need for travel, in many cases by air locally and internationally
  • Facilitating the administration and management of award and grant programs online— reducing or eliminating the need for staff to travel
  • Provisioning for online galleries of winners— eliminating the need to print booklets and ship information about winners
